Student Activities

GRACE Christian School offers students a wide range of activities that encourage community involvement, leadership, and shared interests. From community service opportunities to student government roles, students at GRACE have many ways to contribute, connect, and grow.
Community service is a central part of the GRACE experience. Students from kindergarten through 12th grade are involved in projects that range from local outreach, such as food drives and support for nursing homes, to mission trips that build empathy and global awareness. High school students complete a minimum of 20 service hours each year, with guidance on fulfilling this commitment through local organizations. Specialized service opportunities also include the Chick-fil-A Leader Academy, where students develop leadership skills by organizing impactful community projects, and the National Honor Society, where members contribute through both tutoring and service hours.

Student leadership is fostered through the Student Council, which is active in planning school events, service projects, and spirit-building activities. Students in middle and high school can also participate in a variety of clubs, while social events like spirit nights, prom, and community gatherings create a sense of fellowship among students and families alike.

  • Chick-fil-a Leader Academy

    What is Chick-fil-A Leader Academy?
Chick-fil-A Leader Academy is a national high school leadership program empowering students to make an Impact Through Action. Students learn timeless leadership principles like teamwork, communication, and innovation. These principles are put into practice when the students plan and execute an Impact Project benefiting their local community.

Chick-fil-A Leader Academy's work with GRACE
For our Impact Project, the GRACE students will be hosting a Spring Fling Festival for a refugee community in Raleigh.
We are working with Refugee Hope Partners, an organization that exists to love our refugee neighbors with the hope of the gospel in partnership with the local church. RHP strives to engage, equip, and encourage refugee families so that all may thrive.
All fundraising will support the Spring Fling Festival for Refugee Hope Partners and the ongoing service activities of our Chick-fil-A Leader Academy cohort.

GRACE National Honors Society Chapter Bylaws
In addition to maintaining the standards that earn membership, NHS members attend chapter meetings; perform service projects that benefit their school and communities; and fulfill other responsibilities as required by GRACE Christian School including the following:

    Chapter Community Service Project
At GRACE, we have created the tutoring program to meet the national requirement for all chapters to have a community service project. Tutoring requirements for GRACE's NHS students include:
    • a minimum of 10 hours/year
    • must be with a GRACE student (to specifically impact this community)
    • tutoring a sibling is only permitted if the sibling's teacher has signed the Sibling Tutoring Confirmation Form

Students must log all hours on the NHS Tutoring Form or Givefinity app and have a supervising adult sign off that they witnessed the tutoring being completed.

    Individual service hours
In addition to the tutoring hours, NHS students need to complete a minimum of 10 individual hours/year of community service of their choice. This is in addition to the 20 hours required by all GRACE students to graduate. Students must log all completed hours on the NHS Individual Service Form or Givefinity app and submit it to their NHS adviser by the due date.

Students who consistently fulfill all of these requirements will be allowed to wear the NHS cords at GRACE Christian School’s graduation ceremony.

For more information about the GRACE NHS Chapter, please contact Marcia Wingerd at MWingerd@GRACEChristian.net.

    Request an NHS Tutor

GRACE students may request a NHS tutor using the Request a GRACE Tutor Form. The student’s tutoring needs will be matched with an available NHS student by the officers of the GRACE NHS chapter.
  • Student Council

GRACE Student Council provides leadership for many school-wide activities and events. Officers are elected from middle and high school.

    6th Grade Leadership
Sixth-grade students have the opportunity to participate in a leadership elective for the school year. Students who take that class fulfill the roles and activities of a student council on the Lower Campus. These students are responsible for leading pledges and prayer each morning on the announcement system and in special chapels and assemblies. They meet weekly and lead community outreach and mission projects for the Kindergarten-6th Grade students.

    Upper Campus (7-12) Student Council
On the Upper Campus, high school students must demonstrate strong leadership skills in order to run for elections. They must have a clear testimony of their faith and a strong desire to work for their school community. They are interviewed before they are considered for each position. They then are elected by popular vote, based on their campaign in which they are required to deliver speeches in front of their peers. They are held to a high level of conduct, both in their personal lives as well as their academic achievement. Student Council meets weekly to discuss events and current student issues. They also meet with the head of school or principal periodically, in order to communicate concerns or ideas with the administration.

Student Council sponsors school-wide service projects. They also organize class events and a Homecoming dance. In addition, they help build school spirit by implementing activities such as spirit week (Homecoming) and coordinating the decoration of a Homecoming parade float for each grade level.
  • Student Clubs

Each year on the Upper Campus, students in Grades 7-12 participate in a Club Fair. In advance of the club fair, all students are encouraged to come up with an idea for a club.  After gaining administration approval and a faculty sponsor, students are able to promote their club at the club fair.
  • Social Events

GRACE students and families have lots of opportunities to fellowship outside of the classroom.  As dates are scheduled for the school year, they will be posted on the GRACE Calendar.
    • The GRACE PTF schedules fellowship events throughout the year.
    • Restaurant Spirit Nights allow GRACE families time to share a meal and raise funds for our school. Give Back nights have been held at Cold Stone Creamery, Chick-Fil-A, Chipotle, City BBQ, and Panera.
    • Middle School Fellowship events are always high-energy and a lot of fun. Past events have included a zip line adventure on a GRACE half-day and lock-ins at Defy Gravity.
    • High School social events include a welcome back hot dog social, the Homecoming Dance, and Prom. The GRACE Fan Club gets students excited about supporting GRACE athletic events with themed orange-outs throughout the year.
    • The GRACE Gala is held each spring. A parent-only event, this is a night of fun, food and fellowship while raising money for the GRACE Fund.
