The department of visual arts at GRACE is based on the understanding that God, the original Creator, is a creative God who designed mankind to be imaginative and creative. He gave us the ability to appreciate beauty and produce artwork that is glorifying to Him. God is the greatest creator and artist. He made us in His image; therefore God has imprinted upon our hearts the desire to create. Students at GRACE are introduced to a variety of art materials and techniques at an early age, and the first years in art are about joyful exploration and discovery as students learn about new media, processes, and art elements and principles. Both campuses have well equipped, newly remodeled art rooms with multiple sinks and large kilns. Many art lessons also make connections to other academic subjects, incorporating science, history, English, foreign language, math, and Bible units.
Starting in transitional kindergarten through fifth grade, students have creative art class once a week. Beginning in sixth grade, and continuing from middle school though high school, students have a large variety of available art class options. 100% of our high school students take at least 1 full credit in a fine art before graduation. We offer Art Club on both campuses, for grades 4th to 12th.
