During our recent Spring Break week, 21 Upper Campus high school students had the incredible opportunity to embark on an international trip to Malta and Sicily, accompanied by Mr. Pibl, Mr. Dewey, Mrs. Bizieff, Mrs. Taylor, and several senior parents. This unforgettable experience allowed students to see history come alive as they explored sites they had only previously studied in class—now enriched with a biblical worldview that offered deeper meaning and context.
From a Mediterranean vantage point overlooking the area believed to be akin to where the Apostle Paul was shipwrecked and recorded in the Book of Acts, to walking through centuries-old churches and exploring ancient Roman ruins that have withstood the trials of time, students were powerfully reminded of God's sovereignty throughout history. Visiting landmarks such as the majestic Mt. Etna and the Lascaris War Rooms from WWII provided compelling insights into both the natural wonders of God’s creation and the stark realities of human conflict.
This journey was far more than an educational excursion—it was a faith-deepening experience. As students traced the footsteps of early believers and stood before landmarks of resilience and redemption, they were given a humbling glimpse into God’s providence and the small yet significant place we each occupy in His grand narrative.
As both a principal and a parent, I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity our students had to broaden their horizons, deepen their understanding of both history and faith, and return with a renewed perspective on how God’s hand has been—and continues to be—at work throughout the world.
A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated history and Bible teachers for their selfless commitment and willingness to invest in our students—helping them not only see the world with fresh eyes but also grow in their walk with the Lord and strengthen their relationships with one another.
