Weekly News from GCS
ERB Testing
Students in grades 2-9 will participate in ERB's CTP5 standardized assessment next week, September 26- 29, 2022. September 30 has been designated as a makeup testing day for students who are absent earlier in the week. Our fall testing assesses students on benchmark content from their previous grade level in the spring and provides relevant data for feedback and instructional focus for the duration of the school year. According to ERB, "the CTP helps compare content-specific, curriculum-based performance to the more conceptual knowledge base found in reasoning tests." The assessment data reports will provide relevant and timely feedback for parents and teachers to determine individual student mastery of concepts and skills and areas for growth and improvement and instructional focus this year. All students in grades 2-9 will complete traditional paper/pencil tests and need to bring two sharpened Number 2 pencils with them to school for testing. No online testing will take place this year.
How can parents help? Please ensure your students get a good night's sleep before testing and arrive at school well-nourished, encouraged, and prepared to do their best! There will be no tests in other courses/content areas during the week of ERB testing. Results from testing will be available by the end of October.

See You at the Pole
On September 28th at 7 a.m., students nationwide will pray at the flagpoles of their schools. Parents are also welcome to join us in prayer (the lower elementary will need a parent to accompany them). Our student leaders will introduce topics of prayer and then allow time for prayer on this topic. Depending on the turnout, we may break up into smaller groups to pray after a topic is introduced.

Additionally, we would love to get some of our Shout Outs in early this year so we aren't scrambling for them in March. Any Shout Outs that come in by December will help us greatly! It could be a great way to prepare for Thanksgiving. Here's a link to the form.
