Mrs. Walter's GCS high school 2D Art and Advanced Art classes have created portraits and special name artworks for orphans and underprivileged children from Sierra Leone as part of the Memory Project.
The Memory Project is a nonprofit organization that invites students to create portraits of youth around the world who have faced substantial challenges, such as neglect, abuse, loss of parents, and extreme poverty. The goals of the portraits are to help the children feel valued and important, to know that many people care about their well-being, and to act as meaningful pieces of personal history in the future. Since 2004, the Memory Project has created more than 160,000+ portraits for children in 55 countries.
Upper Campus students have participated in this project for several years. It gives our art students the opportunity to creatively practice kindness and global awareness.
