On this last day of September, it is fitting that this month’s College Connections Newsletter highlights the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) since the application opens October 1st for all students planning to attend college during the 2022-2023 school year. (Note: you will fill out this form EVERY YEAR so make sure you keep your FSA ID Number and password somewhere you will remember)
In North Carolina, financial aid distributions are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Awards are made until the funds are depleted which means grants (free money) you might receive from an application submitted in October will no longer be available in March.
In addition to links to helpful resources to make filling out the FAFSA as easy as possible, this month’s newsletter has tips for underclassmen on how to make the most of their high school years, and advice for how to answer the “Why do you want to attend this college” question that appears on most college applications.
Starting in October, Mrs. Gill and I will host a Q&A meeting on campus and virtually. Dates and links to the virtual meeting are in the newsletter and on the event calendar on the GRACE website.
