Name: Keenan Baker
Years at GRACE: I have been at GRACE for 13 years, Kindergarten through Senior year!
Extracurricular activities: At GRACE, I have been a Captain of the Cross Country team and am a member of the Track and Field team. I have also served for four years on the Executive Student Council as Sergeant of Arms and current Vice President, a member of the band since 4th grade, and am also an active National Honors Society tutor and Writing Center mentor. Outside of GRACE, I work at Fleet Feet, a local running store, volunteer through Cary Teen Council, and am founder and photographer for a photo letter art charitable organization, Perspective Mission. I also enjoy any type of photography and trail running!
Favorite class: I would love to say my favorite class was Mrs. Green's Kindergarten class, as the combination of naptime, recess, and a great teacher is a hard combination to beat. However, a couple of recent classes also come to mind, as it is hard to limit myself to just one. I thoroughly enjoy Mrs. Howard's AP English Literature and Language classes, and I have discovered a love for Statistics from Mrs. Stone's AP Statistics class.
What you'll remember most about GRACE: While it sounds cliche, I do feel the community at GRACE is what I will remember most. In all facets of my time at GRACE, from sports and the wonderful coaches to my awesome band teacher, Mr. Stansberry, to all of the other teachers who have helped cultivate and emphasize my love for learning and my faith, the supportive administration that has come alongside me in my journey throughout these 13 years, and all of the excellent friendships I have made with my classmates, I have truly felt known and loved.
Future plans: I will be attending school next year at UNC-Chapel Hill as a Morehead-Cain Scholar, and I intend to major in Sociology, Psychology, or Statistics and Analytics. Upon graduation from GRACE, I will enjoy spending time with family as well as with old and new friends, and will take a 23-day Outdoor Leadership excursion with fellow Morehead-Cain recipients to the Colorado Rockies to explore and discover the great outdoors!
