Once again, GRACE will be hosting our 12th annual Play4Kay Charity Basketball event to benefit the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. While current COVID restrictions keep us from hosting the event in-person, we ask our GRACE students to come dressed for a PINK OUT this Thursday, February 11th. Our goal is for GRACE to raise $3,000 to benefit the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Click here to make your donation and join us "virtually" for the games on Friday, Friday 12th via this link.
JV Boys - 4:15 p.m. and Varsity Boys - 5:45 p.m. | Martin Gymnasium
Varsity Girls will be playing at 5:00 p.m. at St. David’s School
Celebrating Black History Month
Throughout the month of February, GRACE Christian teachers will be incorporating a variety of lessons and activities to celebrate black culture and black history - including Lower Campus's annual door decorating contest!
In third-grade, Mrs. Schwalk's class spends time every day this month learning about a different black hero. From Mrs. Schwalk: "Sometimes we read a story to go along with that person, and sometimes we look at their picture and read about that person's accomplishments, or discuss a quote. Then, the kids come up with their own trivia question about that person. I encourage them to ask the trivia question to their parents and siblings at home and teach their families what they've learned. Today, one of the kids shared that his parents didn't know the answer to his question - 'Who started Black History Month?' and he made them look it up instead of telling them."
Remembering Skyler McCardle
February 22nd will mark two years since GCS student Skyler McCardle went to heaven after losing a sudden and courageous battle with complications from the flu resulting in Myocarditis at the young age of 14. The McCardle family has chosen an organization called “Note in the Pocket” for their third act of love in honor of Sky. “Note in the Pocket” provides clothing to impoverished and homeless school-aged children in Wake County with dignity and love. “Note in the Pocket" believes that it is unacceptable that children are limited in their educational and social development because they do not have appropriate clothes for school.
There are two ways you can help:
1. Purchase any of the items listed below (if you choose to donate a gift card-
please put it in a sealed envelope) and drop off donations during Upper or Lower Campus carpool between February 16 - 19th.
2. Let the McCardle family do the shopping for you! You can Venmo @Melissa-McCardle or drop off a check during the carpool pick-up and drop-off.

Drivers Education
GRACE will be offering a "virtual" Drivers Ed class from June 7-11, 2021. The class will be 8 am-2 pm each day. Your student must be 14 1/2 years old by the first day of class and must be actively enrolled for the 2021/2022 school year to participate. More information and registration for the class will be available soon.
Yearbook Shout Outs
A shout out is a line you can purchase to be printed in the yearbook. It is a great way to send a special message to your child. It is a great way for your child to let that special teacher or coach know how they feel. It is a fun way to put your favorite song lyrics or movie quotes in the yearbook. It is only $5, and your word will be immortalized. Note: Miss Hawks is the judge of whether or not your Shout Out is appropriate. If you attempt to put in something inappropriate for school, she will give you a disapproving gaze and keep your money as punishment. You can print out your Shout Out form here and bring to Miss. Hawks.
