Happy Homecoming!
Like everything else this year, GCS Homecoming week was a little different this year. Our staff and students enjoyed a week of spirit wear and competitions, culminating in Friday's parade and Homecoming court activities.
Congratulations to seniors Hannah Morris and Stefon McLeod on being named the 2020 Homecoming Queen and King, Tony and Lori Bosco for being named our Distinguished Honorary Alumni and Hailey Truitt '14 for being named our Alumnae of the Year. A special thank you to our Director of Events and Advancement, Michele Bandy, and the Student Council for planning and coordinating all of the activities last week.
Biblical Worldview Integration
Several weeks ago, Head of School Eric Bradley sent an email to all GRACE teachers requesting they share an example of how they integrated a biblical worldview into their lessons that week. We thought our GRACE community would enjoy reading some of their responses. We plan to share a few responses a week over the next several weeks.
"This week during Bible we learned about Joshua and Caleb. Yesterday, we reviewed the memorial stones that Joshua set up in the Jordan River and focused on the reason. He set them up so that when people saw the memorial, they would remember the great things God had done for them. We made our own memorial stones and wrote down all the good things the Lord has done for us. We then talked about sharing Jesus and how we can use this tool to share. They can share their picture with a friend or family member and share all of the good things God has done for them." - Kayla Searson
"In media this week I introduced some new authors and series to students. I pulled up the authors' webpage and showed some clips of authors discussing how they came up with the ideas for their books. One of the series was the "you choose" series where you choose the path of the story while you read. We related this to how God is the author of our stories yet allows us choice. While we don't change God's plan, we can make things harder or easier for ourselves according to our choices." - Christi Robinson
"One thing I love about teaching music is I get an excuse to start Christmas music early! This week we began a few Christmas activities in preparation for our small classroom performances. We had fun talking about the birth of Jesus and spreading joy through the gift of music and sharing the story of Christ's birth." - Megan Olson
